The 2011-12 Robin Hood Theatre Company season opens
with the world premiere of patron Eric Chappell’s
latest work. Side-Effects has been penned by the
award-winning author and playwright, and although it
will have you laughing in the aisles, there is a
darker side to this work too. Set in a convalescent
home, the play revolves around the very grumpy Frank
who is in the home for rest and recuperation — that
is until he meets Paul, who is also recuperating. Their encounter brings on many side-effects that
only their long-suffering wives, June and Sarah, can
deal with. When Tracey arrives at the home, she
throws a spanner in the works and all hell breaks
loose, with hilarious consequences.
Director Dawn Bond writes ... Never having
directed a play by Eric Chappell, I am extremely
honoured to have been asked to direct it, and proud
to be working alongside Eric. I have a very talented
cast and crew working with me so you are in for a
barrel of laughs. |
